India – The iconic Italian coffee brand Lavazza has selected Hill+Knowlton Strategies as their communication consultant for India.
Lavazza is a Turin-based company founded in 1895 by Luigi Lavazza, and is now led by fourth generation Lavazza family members. As one of the world’s leading coffee brands, it offers premium products for at home, away from home and at office segments. H+K Strategies’ objective will be to continue to position Lavazza as a premium coffee brand amongst its diverse stakeholders. The consultancy will leverage Lavazza’s multiple assets in India including the LavazzaTraining Center in Chennai, which is its largest such center in the world, to drive the PR campaign.
Confirming the appointment, Silvio Zaccareo, Managing Director, Lavazza India stated, “We are proud to have H+K Strategies as our new strategic PR partner. As a key growth market for Lavazza, we are keen to continue to communicate our products and initiatives in India and are looking forward to see the results this new partnership will bring about.”
Chetan Mahajan, President-India & South Asia, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, on winning the mandate, said, “Going Digital first in storytelling is now the approach used by most companies to engage better with their stakeholders and at H+K India that is a core thought process. Lavazza is an iconic Italian coffee brand with a very high commitment to sustainability. We are extremely honoured and delighted to be chosen as their partners to take forth their PR vision in the country.”
We have a strong demonstrated track record in managing communication campaigns in the FMCG and luxury product sector. We will leverage our strengths – creativity, wide network, and strong media relations to further build a strong and positive brand-equity for Lavazza in the country.”
H+K Strategies has deep expertise in consumer facing clients and have won multiple industry recognitions for Marking Communication campaigns.
Established in 1895 in Turin, the Italian roaster has been owned by the Lavazza family for four generations. Among the world’s most important roasters, the Group currently operates in more than 90 countries through subsidiaries and distributors, exporting 60% of its production. Lavazza employs a total of about 3,000 people with a turnover of more than €1.9 billion in 2016. Lavazza invented the concept of blending — or in other words the art of combining different types of coffee from different geographical areas — in its early years and this continues to be a distinctive feature of most of its products.
The company also has over 25 years’ experience in production and sale of portioned coffee systems and products. It was the first Italian business to offer capsule espresso systems.
Lavazza operates in all business segments: at home, away-from-home and office coffee service, always with a focus on innovation in consumption technologies and systems. Lavazza has been able to develop its brand awareness through important partnerships perfectly in tune with its brand internationalization strategy, such as those in the world of sport with the Grand Slam tennis tournaments, and those in fields of art and culture with prestigious museums like New York’s Guggenheim Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Venice, and The Hermitage State Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
